General Discussion / VEX arena?
« Last post by EngTechBarfield on August 02, 2016, 08:42:10 am »
Hey guys! I'm curious how y'all build your VEX arenas or if you just have to buy the one from them. Can you make it with wood instead? Any pictures of y'alls would be awesome! Thanks!!
General Discussion / Math/Science Pre-Tests??

Greetings! I was curious if any of you guys used a pre-test at the beginning of the year to assess math and science concepts your students knew or needed reinforcement on? Any you're willing to share would help me NOT reinvent the wheel!! Thanks!
General Discussion / New Eng and Tech program help!
« Last post by EngTechBarfield on May 31, 2016, 04:42:20 pm »
Hey guys- I just emailed Mr. Roger Ivey with a couple questions but thought I'd reach out here too.

1-I wondered if there was a listing of activities for our kids, like camps and things, that our students might be interested in for this summer. I'm reaching out to Steve Price too, but hoping for more than just TSA stuff.

2- I need to work hard on our advisory committee. It's pretty overwhelming and intimidating. Could you recommend a few teachers that have strong programs going that I could reach out to? I'd like to see the letters and methods they have for inviting people, and the selling points they use to convince people it's worth their time to sit on the committee.

3- If there are any materials that show suggested scope and sequence charts or curriculum calendars for eng and tech, I would LOVE those resources. My summer plan is to merge our Engineering by Design, TSA, LJ Create and other resources into a more fluid school year calendar, but I think folks with a lot more experience and ideas could also contribute to this?

Thanks y'all!

Thanks! My school wouldn't install game maker, they said it wasn't reputable and didn't fit into our curriculum, which was pretty weird. :/ We're using Microsoft Kodu and Scratch for now.

I have done game maker in the past, I know it's pretty basic but I thought it was a good introduction. I also used app Inventor last year to teach some coding/game design.

I was wondering if any of y'all did video game design in your engineering and tech classes? And if so, what program do you use?

Tech Day / Re: Registration Process
« Last post by sprice on October 25, 2015, 11:58:56 am »
After reading the remarks left in the Survey Monkey Tech Day Evaluation, It is apparent that some think that GA TSA or I have the power to decide what events can be done at the fair, how we register for the event or even when Tech Day is held during the GA National Fair.

I want to make this clear. We don't.

If we did, GA TSA would ONLY use our own registration system and would never set the day to be on a holiday. Neither I, nor your peers on the Board of Directors that were elected to represent you, would not make things more difficult on us than it already is. That day was set years ago (the first Monday of the GNF Schedule. The other CTSOs follow with their own days) The fair directors have some plan that sets when the fair is held each year. During the history of CTSO participation in the fair, this situation has happened several times before.

OK, so did I screw up? I only registered team events and the software never asked me for individual students names, only team/school name and competition.
That was correct
